My new Toy!!

This is my latest toy. A dear friend sent it to me from the USA. Didn't I tell you that I have a bunch of wonderful friends :) For me , there is something about the iPods and gifts. My previous iPod nano also I got as a gift from the company when I won a personality poll and this one also I got as a gift. But the irony is although I love listening, I am musically challenged!!

Where are my children?

As usual so much hype about Mother's Day all around and we fail to notice these beings quietly sitting in one corner waiting for someone to come and say a kind word to them..

Wanna have a bite?

I love chocolates and Cadbury is my all time favorite. When I was small my heart broke when someone told me that they throw off many bars not meeting the quality standards (broken ones n all). I felt they were committing an unpardonable crime wasting all those yummy goodies.. So I used to tell mom that I'll grow up and get married to someone working in that factory. That way I can eat whatever they were wasting ;)

Fashion Show

Friday was our Family Day and it always reminds me of the school annual days. I have been attending the family day after 2 years and was really shocked to see the crowd that has increased many folds. Earlier we used to be a close knit family where everyone knew everyone else and sometimes even their families. But this time I was totally lost in the crowd and had to really search for some familiar faces :(

Photography wise also it was challenging because of the low light and fast movements. I increased the ISO and luckily not much noise.

Indulgence!!

Don't you think weekend is for that? And did anyone remind me the word 'diet'? he he that's why there is a pasta salad and carrot-orange juice to accompany ;)

Warm Wishes on Ugadi

May the Blossom of Spring bring Happiness and Prosperity to your Home. Happy Ugadi !

Got this pic from old collections while cleaning up. Again from my garden and taken in auto mode (rather point and shoot). I know I should have focused on the center of the flower and not on the petal. Unfortunately no other shots :(
Another interesting thing I noticed in this clean up process is that there are so many varieties of white flowers in my garden. Not sure if that is the predominant color or just that my camera is drawn towards that color. Of course white is my favorite color too, so may be it took tips from me ;)

Pithru Tharpanam

Today was Acchan's 'Shraadham' and we came to Navamunkuda Temple in Thirunnavaya. It felt as if yesterday when I first came to this shore with his ashes and today, after 1 year, I came again to offer 'Pithru Bali' with a prayer to bring him peace and eternal rest..Time really Flies !!

Ain't the world so colorful

Wherever I go I'm drawn to the flowers. May be I was a butterfly in my previous stint!! My friends keep teasing me saying not a single flower in the vicinity escapes without being photographed by me. So when we were in an enclave with lots of flowers(and of course butterflies), I preferred shooting flowers to chasing the butterflies. And then the butterfly came and completed the picture. It reminded me of the saying "Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But if you turn your attention to other things, It comes and sits softly on your shoulder." How true!

Bizarrely beautiful

This is a place somewhere in between Sarchu and Leh. I don’t think I’m overstating the case by saying that the Manali to Leh is one of the world’s classic road trips. Lush green valleys, barren ice-fields and a surreal high-altitude desert are all part of this epic journey over the second highest motorable road in the world. An incredible journey even with all the altitude sickness, bone chilling weather, dizzy heights, non-existing roads, tight hairpin bends,.. Anytime I look at the photographs I recollect all the details.. Think I should again attempt to write the travelogue before I totally forget everything..(first one that I wrote went in drain when my hard disk crashed :( )

From the wild

We spotted this in the mudumalai forest range.. It was very difficult to capture they as they were running away too fast seeing the vehicle..:-(

From my garden

I am always enthusiastic to take photos during trips, but when I am at home I totally forget that I have a camera ;) This is one of the incidents where I remembered that I can find subjects in my own backyard (rather frontyard) too..

This is generally called white lily (it's a smaller version of the tiger lily) and can be grown as a border plant.

Beauty Queen

Yes isn't she a real beauty? This is my first ever macro shot. Soon after I bought my cam we went to coonoor and three of us went for an early morning walk through the narrow gauge tracks. That's where I spotted her and yeh she modeled well :)

Lonely

This is taken in Rabdenste Palace Ruins, Pelling , West Sikkim, India.
Rabdenste was the second capital of Sikkim shifted from Yuksom. The second Chogyal of Sikkim, Tensung Namgyal, established it in the late seventeenth century. Presently the Rabdentse Palace is in ruins, now being preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India and have been declared as a monument.

I liked this shot as it looked so serene and peaceful. The mist in the background added to the feel..

Saw her near Khecheopalri lake in Sikkim. She was very shy to look to the camera, but did want me to take her snap :)
